Nasal congestion or nose blockage can make breathing a challenge and can be quite annoying. It is the winter season or cold weather, air pollution and tobacco smoke that mostly affect our nose. Nasal congestion is cause due to sinus, allergies, polyps, structural abnormalities, flu, colds etc.
It is important to treat nasal congestion immediately since it can cause serious problems on health, such as ear infections, may interfere in hearing, snoring problems, difficulty in sleeping, smelling or eating with a closed mouth and so on.Here are some of the ayurvedic remedies for nasal congestion which are easy to make and are very effective.
Nasal Irrigation refers to flushing out of nasal passages with salt water, which washes out mucus and all kind of dirt or germs keeping your nasal passages moist and clean. You could use a neti pot, or a syringe with distilled or previously boiled water to make up the irrigation solution to flush out the nasal passage.
Black pepper powder:
Heating black pepper powder on a pan and inhaling the fumes is one of the best ways to help relieve nasal congestion.
Ajwain also known as carom seeds is also one of the oldest ayurvedic remedies for nasal congestion. Inhaling steam of heated ajwain in a piece of cloth helps in clearing blocked nose.
Garlic is also an effective ayurvedic remedies for reducing nasal congestion. Smashing two to three garlic cloves and mixing it with one-half teaspoon of turmeric powder and drinking it clears congestion.
Apple Cider Vinegar:
Apple cider vinegar is good for overall health and immunity. Drinking a mixture of apple cider vinegar and honey in a cup of warm water helps thin the mucus and can quickly clear a blocked nose.
You can use any of the above natural ayurvedic remedies to relieve from nasal congestion until you are well again. And also drink a lot of fluids so that it thin out your mucus and may help prevent sinuses from getting your blocked nose.
