Ayurvedic treatment for mouth ulcer

Mouth ulcer is the small reddish or whitish open sores in the inner area of the mouth. It is a common problem experience by everyone and sometimes it is quite painful. Mouth ulcer is also known as stomatitis or cankers. It may be cause due to stress, indigestion, constipation, calcium deficiency, biting the inner lining of the cheeks, eating hot and spicy food etc.

According to Ayurveda, mouth ulcer is described as Mukha Paaka and ayurvedic treatment can get rid of it. Some of the Ayurvedic treatments for mouth ulcer are:

  • Honey:

  • Honey is known for its anti-microbial property and is very effective for the treatment of mouth ulcer. Apply honey on the ulcer affected area with the help of your finger tips 3-4 times a day. It will cause a burning sensation but will subside after sometimes and help you cure soon.

  • Triphala churna:

  • Make a paste of triphala churna and honey and apply on the ulcer and keep it for sometimes, this will cure it soon.

  • Leaves of mango or guava:

  • Chewing the tender leaves of mango or guava and applying the paste on the ulcer helps you cure it.

  • Indian gooseberry:

  • Indian gooseberry is an effective remedy for mouth ulcer. Apply a paste of Indian gooseberry on the ulcer directly for at least twice a day and it will heal your ulcer very soon.

  • Coriander leave:

  • Coriander leaves is also effective for curing mouth ulcer. Take a handful of coriander leaves and boil it in water. After it cools down strain it and use the water to gargle 2-3 times a day.

    Avoid sour and spicy food and also increase your intake of water if the mouth ulcer is caused due to indigestion or constipation.
