Home Remedies to Get Rid of Dandruff

Dandruff can occur due to dry scalp, irritated oily skin, or an inflammatory skin condition called seborrheic dermatitis. It causes itchiness along with excessive formation of dry skin flakes on the scalp.

While dandruff can be a rather embarrassing and confidence-lowering condition, it isn’t very serious in most cases. Dandruff can be controlled by following a healthy hair care routine. Here are the some natural Home Remedies to get rid of Dandruff. Have a look please:-

1. Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar is effective remedy in getting rid of dandruff. It helps to restores the pH balance of the scalp, thereby inhibiting the growth of yeast.
1. Mix an equal amount of water and 15-20 drops of tea tree oil into two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar.
2. Apply this mixture onto your scalp and massage gently.
3. Rinse your hair after 15 minutes.
4. Follow this natural remedy three times a week.

2. Baking Soda

Baking soda is one of the best natural home remedies and being a mild exfoliant, baking soda helps to absorbs excess oil and removes dead skin cells. It reduces overactive fungi that can cause dandruff.
1. Wet your hair and rub a handful of baking soda vigorously into your scalp.
2. After a few minutes, rinse your hair well with plenty of warm water.
3. Repeat once or twice a week for a few weeks.

Note: Do not shampoo your hair after this treatment.

3. Coconut Oil

Due to its antifungal properties, coconut oil helps in getting rid of dandruff. It also moisturizes dry scalp and provides relief from itching.
1. Take 3-5 tablespoons of coconut oil and mix half the amount of lemon juice in it.
2. Rub it on your scalp and massage for a few minutes.
3. Wash your hair after at least 10 minutes.
4. Follow this remedy two to three times a week.

4. Curd

Treating dandruff with curd at home is a little messy but very effective remedy. Method for using curd for dandruff is as:

1. Apply some curd to your hair and scalp.
2. Let it sit tight for about half an hour.
3. Rinse it off well with a shampoo that’s mild.
For best results; all these remedies need to be applied at least thrice a week. And continue it till you will see the difference.
