A proud moment for India, Sakshi Malik brings a Bronze Medal in the 58kg freestyle category of women’s wrestling. She is the first who wins a medal for india in Rio Olympics 2016.
Sakshi Malik put India on the medal tally with bronze into her pocket.
She defeated Aisuluu Tynybekova 8-5 to set victory and end India’s wait for the first Olympic medal at Rio Olympics 2016. It‘s also the first time a woman wrestler has won a medal for India.
She was trailing 5-0 before coming back in the dying moments with some superb moves to take the advantage away from her opponent.
Earlier, she had lost her quarterfinal bout against Valeria Koblova but since the later made it to the final, she earned her shot at the bronze via the Repechage round. She defeated Orkhon Purevdorj to assure a bronze medal playoff with Tynybekova.
