1. Remove unwanted programs





Every system, there are number of unwanted and unused programs that can slow down your laptop speed. So, it is highly recommended to remove all these unwanted programs from your system.

  • Click start and select control panel.
  • Click on uninstall a program.
  • From the list of programs, click on the program that you want to uninstall, and then click uninstall.

    Every time, when you visit a web page, web browser temporary stores the webpage in its ‘caches’. Over time the volume of these files can increase, which results is slow laptop speed. So, clearing out the browser cache will help to boost the system performance.

  • Click history under tools on your browser.
  • Clear browsing data or clear cache or cookies.
  • 3. Remove temporary Files

    You can boost your system performance by removing temporary files and unnecessary files.

  • Click Start.
  • Type disk clean up in the search box.
  • A Disk Cleanup window is opened. In the list of Drives, select the hard disk drive that you want to clean.
  • Mostly this will be the C: drive. Click OK.
  • Select the type of files that you want to delete in the Disk Cleanup box, and then click OK and then click Delete files.
  • 4. Regularly Defragment your hard drive

    When there are large volumes of data on the hard drive, files are scattered in several different locations of the computer. This means that the drive works slightly slower. Disk defragmentation is the process to clean up all the mess and tidy up all the fragmented data on a volume so it will work more efficiently.
    The option of the Defragmentation is available under the programs and system tools. It may take more than one hour to complete this process. But you notice that after defragmenting the performance of your system is boosted immediately.

    5. Keep software up to date

    Make sure that all the software on your system is up to date. The Software includes web browser, drivers, applications and most importantly, windows itself. Your system software needs regular updates.

    6. Check for viruses and other malware

    One cause to slow down your system performance and loss data is virus. So make sure that the system must have an antivirus and it’s up to date. It protects from software, viruses and other malicious software like Trojan, worms and more.

    7. Limit startup programs

    When you successfully installed a new program, this is by default load on startup and when you switch your computer on or reboot, CPU greedily tries to load these 10 programs on startup. This can slow down your system performance. So you can easily disable the programs that you don’t need to start directly or straight away.

  • Click Start.
  • Type msconfig in the search box and press Enter.
  • System Configuration window is opened, click the Startup tab.
  • From the list of programs that appears, untick the box next to those you don’t need at startup.
  • Click Apply and then click OK.
  • Now restart your system.
